Pudelpointers are versatile hunting dogs with a medium frame of approximately 22" to 27" (foot to shoulder) and weighs approximately 40 to 75 lbs.

Coat variations are based around a liver color, black, brown, and copper with small white markings on the chest and paws are allowed within the breed. The density of the coat is ideally coarse and wiry, but variations are allowed within the breed standard.

The breed standard requires pronounced hair around the eyebrows and whiskered snouts.

The tail is to be docked to a length of two-thirds it's original length.

Pudlepointers will hunt and point upland game, trail wounded birds or furred quarry, retrieve from land and water, blood track big game and also be an unobtrusive porch dog, fireside companion, or watch dog.

Pudelpointers are excellent water dogs. They do not have the retrievers marking ability but when it comes to working difficult terrain, they are hard to beat.

Devotion to their master is almost unparalleled and makes Pudlepointers great personal companions.

Pudelpointers have great pointing instincts and most have a natural retrieving ability.
